What types of items does My Big Sister’s Closet accept?
We accept women’s plus size clothing and accessories that are high quality. All items must be cleaned, pressed and on hangers, if applicable and purchased in the last 2 years.
What sizes does My Big Sister’s Closet accept?
When can I bring my items?
You do not have to make an appointment to bring your items in but we do suggest that you call before you come to make sure that we can accommodate you. We also buy out your items, so you may walk away with cash in hand!
How many items can I bring in at a time?
At My Big Sister’s Closet, you may bring up to 50 items per day.
Are there any fees to consign with My Big Sister’s Closet?
There is a onetime $10 administrative fee.
Why am I required to bring my items on hangers?
When you put your cleaned, pressed items on hangers, you are easily able to check for missing buttons, wear and tear, missing tags, stains, etc. and remove these items before bringing them in to us to consign. It also speeds up the consigning process, as we are also able to easily inspect your items and get them to our sales floor faster and be ready to sell!
How much do I receive for consigning?
You receive 40% of the selling price.
How long is the consigning period?
Your items stay on the sales floor for 90 days.
How do I know what items to bring in?
We only accept seasonal items. If you are unsure, please call us and we will tell you what season we are currently accepting.
Who sets the prices?
At My Big Sister’s Closet, we use our knowledge of the market and our experience to set our prices. We price your items based on several factors, such as supply and demand, the season, the condition of your item, and what the market will bear.
How do I get paid?
Checks are ready on the 15th of each month. No checks are written under $15.00.
How do you decide what items to accept?
Please don’t take it personally if we reject an item or items that you bring in. We only consign items that we think will appeal to our customers. Due to the high volume of items we are presented (we receive 1000’s of items per week) we are just simply unable to accept everything that is brought in. We must be extremely selective as to what we accept and just can’t take items that may not be sellable or if we are experiencing overcrowding in one of our sections.
Can I mail you items to consign?
Yes! We have several consignors that live out of town and mail their items to us to consign. Please contact My Big Sister’s Closet for information on consigning by mail.
Do you only accept designer brands?
No. We accept popular, better and designer brands. We do not, however, accept ibrands from Walmart, Kmart, Target, or Old Navy.
How can I maximize the value of my items?
To maximize the value of your items you must make sure all your items have their tags with the size information and washing instructions. They must be freshly washed/dry cleaned, pressed and hung on hangers. If you have dry cleaned items, leave the dry cleaning tags attached. Leave all sewn in labels attached. Your future buyers like to know what they are buying and how to care for the item. We will not consign/buy items without these tags. Leave all price tags and manufacturer tags on the item. Original price tags increase the value of the item because the buyer is sure that the item has never been worn and that they are getting a better bargain! Items CANNOT BE ALTERED. This includes hemmed pants.
Does My Big Sister’s Closet accept “knock offs”?
No. We only accept designer items that can be authenticated. Our customers expect that the designer items we offer to be authentic. If we are in doubt as to the authenticity of an item, we will not sell it. For luxury items, keep your receipt in a safe place- if you decide to consign the item, we then have proof of the authenticity of it, as well as the original purchase price.
When can I pick up my unsold items?
You may pick up your items at anytime during the consignment period, but it is your responsibility to do so. Items left after 90 days will be donated.
